The Spanish Development Finance Company - COFIDES S.A. – signed a Framework Partnership Agreement with the OFFICIAL CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE in Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama.

The Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA) aims to identify eligible companies and projects for COFIDES financial support. This will enable them to direct the resources managed by COFIDES, especially FIEX and FONPYME, to private investment projects that are sponsored by Spanish companies or that could be seen as being of Spanish interest in Central America.

Under the FPA, the COFIDES office in Mexico will ensure the implementation of the Agreement, which will be developed jointly with the Economic and Commercial Offices located in the above mentioned countries.

The FPA also involves closer collaboration between COFIDES and the CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE to organise seminars and business forums in the six Central American countries. Furthermore, the FPA explicitly states that support will be provided to companies with environmental activities that may be considered to be Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) or Joint Implementation Mechanisms (JIM), according to the Kyoto Protocol.
