Chairman and CEOJosé Luis CurbeloJose L. Curbelo is an Economist. He received a PhD from the University of California-Berkeley, a Master Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and from the University of the Basque Country. In addition, he followed courses at Harvard University, Harvard Business School, the John Fitzgerald Kennedy School of Government, the University of California-Los Angeles, the Amsterdam Institute of Finance or the World Bank, among others. His graduate studies were financed by scholarships from the Fulbright-Banco de Bilbao Foundation, the Juan March Foundation as well as by the National Science Foundation and the Newhouse Foundation of the United States. He was Director of the Investment Department of COFIDES. He held different positions, such as Deputy Chairman for Development Strategies and Public Policies and Chief Economist in CAF-Development Bank of Latin America, CEO at the Basque Institute of Competitiveness (Orkestra) and Head for the Small Business Development Unity of the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) in the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), among others. In the academic field, he is a Senior Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council of Spain (CSIC). He also served as Dean of the School of Law and Economics of the Camilo José Cela University, Director of the BBVA-Chair of Entrepreneurship at the Nebrija University, Professor of Project Financing at the Carlos III University, Lecturer at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLA) and Visiting Professor at the University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte (Brazil). He has also provided consultancy services to the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank or the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA) and he is the author of several monographs and publications.

Head of DivisionAna Victoria Fernández Sáinz de la MazaAna Victoria Fernández Sáinz de la Maza holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has pursued various specialisation programmes in commercial, corporate, insolvency, arbitration and procedural law, among others. She has spent most of her career at COFIDES, after joining in 1997. She has been the company’s general secretary since 2007, responsible for corporate legal advice, the regulatory section, procedural area and general services. She is also the coordinator of the independent bodies for regulatory compliance, prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing and prevention of criminal liability. She is the non-executive secretary of the board of directors and the Foreign Investment Fund (FIEX) and Fund for Foreign Investment Operations for Small and Medium Enterprises (FONPYME) executive committees.

General ManagerRodrigo Madrazo García de LomanaRodrigo Madrazo was appointed Director-General of COFIDES in August 2018. He entered Spain´s Civil Service in 2001 as a State Economist. Between 2015 and 2018 he was Director General for Economic Policy in the Ministry of Economy. Previously, Mr. Madrazo, held different positions in Ministries of Industry and Trade. Between 2007 and 2012, he headed the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Ecuador. Mr. Madrazo also has relevant experience in the corporate sector since he was a Member of the Board of Directors of Aena (IBEX35 listed company), Instituto de Crédito Oficial (the Spanish state-owned bank) and also ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, the Spanish agency in charge of promoting external trade and attracting foreign investment. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of EDFI Management Company since November 2020.

Head of DivisionAna Cebrián ParrondoAna Cebrián is an economics and business graduate from Comillas Pontifical University, ICADE-ICAI, Madrid, Spain and has an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management, Netherlands. Prior to joining COFIDES, she held positions of responsibility in the financial areas of the REALE Seguros insurance company, pharma firm Eli Lilly and food industry player Vensy. She has worked at COFIDES since 2002, where she has held different positions linked to operation origin, analysis and structuring. She is currently the Head of the Business Development Division.

Head of DivisionMiguel Ángel Ladero SantosMiguel Ángel Ladero holds a law degree from the University of Salamanca and an MBA from IESE (University of Navarre). He joined COFIDES in 2002, where he has since held positions of responsibility in various areas, such as Legal Consultancy, Investment and Operations. Currently, as Head of Investment Division, he is responsible for commercial work with recurrent clients, the analysis, structuring and formalisation of operations, and the follow-up of portfolio transactions carried out with both COFIDES and FIEX and FONPYME funds.

Head of DivisionConsuelo Díaz MartínezConsuelo Díaz has extensive experience at COFIDES, which she joined in 2005 as deputy director of the Economic and Finance Division. Since then, she has held different management positions in the company, including the Project Monitoring, Investment and, finally, Risk divisions. A trained economist, her career has always been developed in the field of finance, where she has had different responsibilities in institutions such as the International Financial Analysts group’s School of Applied Finance, the MEFF Institute (today BME), the AB Asesores Bursátiles group and the Sociedad de Intermediación de Activos Financieros, S.V. securities company.

Head of DivisionCarolina Fernández-PueblaCarolina Fernández-Puebla has a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Master's degree in Banking and Finance from Analistas Financieros Internacionales (AFI). Prior to joining COFIDES, she worked in the Financial and Risk Consultancy of Analistas Financieros Internacionales and was Director of Control at Gespastor, S.A., S.G.I.I.C. At COFIDES she worked as Deputy Head of the Risk Division from 2011 to 2020. She is currently Head of the Finance Division.

Head of DivisionJosé Carlos VillenaDegree in Law, Business Administration and Management and in Actuarial and Financial Sciences from University Carlos III. Master's in International Business Management from the Centre of Economic and Commercial Studies (CECO), Master's in Microfinance and Social Development from the University of Alcalá; MBA from the Centre of Economic and Commercial Studies (CECO). He joined the Company in 2007 and since then he has held various positions in the Monitoring, Investment and Development Financing departments. During 2012 and 2013 he undertook a secondment term at the World Bank, working as Operations Analyst for the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) in Washington. Prior to joining COFIDES, he held various roles in Mercer HR (MMC Group) and Krämmer Marktforschung in Germany.

Head of DivisionFernando Aceña MorenoFernando Aceña has a university background in law, international business management and development cooperation. He held various positions of responsibility in investment management and business cooperation at ICEX as of 1990. He served as an industrial cooperation consultant for the Centre for Enterprise Development (CDE) in Spain from 1993 to 2001 and has held positions of responsibility at COFIDES in the business and corporate development areas since 2007.

Head of DivisionMaría Victoria de Luis DuránMaría Victoria de Luis has worked with COFIDES since 2008, developing different responsibilities in the Operations Monitoring Division and as its deputy director between 2010 and 2012. She has been the deputy director of the Control, Internal Audit and Quality division since its creation in 2012. She has more than 20 years’ professional experience in mergers and acquisitions at Grupo BNP Paribas and two years in financial auditing at Ernst & Whitney. María Victoria is an economics and business graduate from the Complutense University of Madrid’s College of Financial Studies and has an MBA from IESE (Barcelona, University of Navarre).
