Madrid, May 25, 2018.- On Thursday the 24th of May, the Spanish channel La 2, owned by RTVE (Spanish Radio and Television Corporation), broadcast the thirteenth episode of the second season of Conecta con el Mercado (Connect with the Market), aimed at all those companies which seek to open new markets out of Spain.

This time the destination was Panama, a strong economy which has grown at a rate of 8% during the last decade. More than a thousand Spanish companies have been attracted by this market and they are already exporting to this country, and approximately 300 companies are established in Panama.

This episode shows the internationalisation example of Grupo Cuerva, a company supported by COFIDES in the construction and operation of a small hydro in Panama. The energy sector, industrial technology, construction, logistics and transport are some of the sectors which offer the most opportunities.

Conecta con el Mercado analyses the business opportunities for Spanish companies abroad and it is developed by ICEX and sponsored by COFIDES, Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar, ICO and CESCE. The programme also counted on the collaboration and support of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the FIEM and the ERDF Funds.

COFIDES is a combined private-public concern, which since 1988 has provided financial support to Spanish enterprises abroad. COFIDES manages the FIEX and FONPYME funds on behalf of the State Secretariat for Trade, within The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. The stockholders include the Bank of Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Santander Bank, Popular Bank, Sabadell Bank and CAF (Development Bank of Latin America).
