COFIDES took a seat in the Spanish UN Global Compact Network in November 2008. Besides COFIDES, the new members in the Executive Committee are Caja de Burgos, Euskaltel, Fundación Carolina, Grupo OHL, Iberdrola and Mapfre. Thus, COFIDES participates actively in the Spanish Global Compact Network in promoting the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.

The Spanish UN Global Compact Network, previously known as Asociación Española del Pacto Mundial (ASEPAM), was formed in November 15th 2004. Nowadays, the Spanish network is one of the most active platforms and gathers more than 600 members including a wide range of interest groups: companies, NGOs, trade unions, academic institutions and social organisations.

COFIDES is a founding member of the Spanish Global Compact Network and reports yearly on its own progress in effectively complying with the Ten Principles. The company’s second report, submitted in 2008, is available on the Global Compact website (www.pactomundial.org).

> The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. By doing so, business, as a primary agent driving globalization, can help ensure that markets, commerce, technology and finance advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere.
