COFIDES S.A., the Spanish Development Finance Company, has granted a loan to the Chilean company INMUEBLES CATALUÑA LTDA. CONSERVAS DANI is the Spanish promoting company and holds a 93% stake in the company. The company specializes in manufacturing, preserving in cans and distributing tin products, especially seafood tins.
The project total investment amounts to 2.37 million euros and will allow the Group to develop a new market focused on the frozen mussel. Isla de Chiloé is the main area for the mussel growth in Chile and is also the area where the Chilean DANIs Group plant is located. The enlargement of the facilities is expected to create 34 new jobs, 75% of which will be held by women.
COFIDES supported previous projects developed by DANIs Group. In 2005, through FIEX resources, COFIDES granted a 3 million euro joint venture loan to INMUEBLES CATALUÑA for a new tin factory in Chile. In 1992, COFIDES also provided support for a Groups project in China.
