Madrid, August 04 2020.- COFIDES will support the agro-biotechnology company Futureco Bioscience to strengthen its subsidiary in Peru. To this end, it will provide an ordinary loan of 300,000 euros from COFIDES' own resources.

The financing provided by COFIDES will help to guarantee the adequate supply of the company's products to its clients, so that its subsidiary in Lima can distribute its products. Futureco has been present in Peru since 2014 and began its business activity in 2018.

CONTRIBUTING TO THE SDGs

This project contributes in particular to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by facilitating the sustainability of food production systems and implementing resilient agricultural practices through providing low environmental impact inputs to the agricultural sector. In this way, it helps to promote a transition from traditional agriculture to more sustainable environmentally friendly agriculture.

COFIDES President, José Luis Curbelo, stressed the importance of "supporting innovative companies working to minimize environmental impact in their foreign investment projects. Curbelo also added that "these projects can help strengthen the primary sector of the countries where we invest and food security, which is important to COFIDES and its commitment to sustainable development".

Rafael Juncosa, CEO of Futureco Bisocience highlights how "investing in the Peruvian market, with a highly technical agribusiness focused on improvement and sustainability" is a priority, especially "for introducing new technologies that our company is developing in terms of analysing the biodiversity of agricultural soils and its continuous improvement with advanced personalized programmes
