Madrid, 8 July 2019.- With the support of the Fund for SME Foreign Investment Operations (FONPYME), COFIDES has acquired 2 million euro in bonds from the medical diagnosis and treatment company par excellence, Atrys Health S.A. Today, the company has launched a bond program worth up to €25 million, to exclusively finance the adquisition of companies under the framework of its internationalisation and growth strategy while undertaking significant investment in CAPEX aimed at opening new high-precision radiotherapy centres.
The first bond program launched by Atrys Health is worth €10 million and has been completely underwritten. This is the first bond underwriting operation that COFIDES has developed through FONPYME, following the participation of FIEX in another bond underwriting this February. The financing provided by COFIDES will be destined for the acquisition of other companies.
The COFIDES Chairman, José Luis Curbelo, stated that “with this project, COFIDES has demonstrated its innovative nature again, and its capacity to adapt to the needs of companies. We're hoping to contribute to the diversification of the sources of its funding and to be able to focus on the internationalisation element of the business plan".
Santiago de Torres, ATRYS Chairman, highlighted that “having quality institutional investors such as COFIDES, ICO and EBN BANCO in this new chapter is a particularly relevant fact that, together with the extensive over-subscription that has been registered, they have shown great confidence in our project and have boosted ATRYS's expansion plan”.
Atrys Health is a company that provides medical diagnosis and treatment services par excellence with its headquarters in Madrid, created by internationally renowned oncological experts for the purposes of developing a new clinical management model for cancer and other pathologies. Its model combines innovative, precise diagnosis methods in molecular and pathological anatomy, along with new radiotherapy treatments.
It carries out significant activities in applied R&D, from which it has generated various patent families in partnership with national and international centres of reference. It has four laboratories in Barcelona and a R&D centre in Granada. Pharmaceutical companies, hospital groups, health insurers and the publich health system are among its main clients. It has a workforce consisting of 99 employees.
COFIDES is a public-private company which has been offering financial support to Spanish companies investing abroad since 1988. It is accredited with the EU to manage Community budgets, allowing it to structure transactions with a high impact on development. It is also accredited with the UN’s Green Climate Fund and can structure operations on climate change mitigation and adaptation with the GCF. It is the exclusive manager of FIEX and FONPYME funds on behalf of the Secretariat of State for Trade attached to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and supports AECID in managing FONPRODE funds.
