Financing line for investments generating CO2 emission credits (FINCARBONO)

This line offers financing under special conditions for viable projects that can be regarded to be eligible for CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) or Joint Implementation (JI) status, as defined in the Kyoto Protocol and requiring medium- or long-term investments.

The most relevant characteristics of the financial support provided are as follows:

• Eligible projects: viable private projects that generate carbon dioxide emission credits and involve some manner of Spanish interest. The target businesses include:
• Capture of fugitive greenhouse gas emissions
• Energy efficiency
• Renewable energy
• Transport
• Industrial or agroindustrial projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
• Types of financial support:
  • Capital holdings
  • Joint venture loans
  • Ordinary medium- and long-term loans to the project company
• Ceiling: the lower of 25,000,000 euros or 50% of the total project investment
• Minimum: 1,000,000 euros
• Access: applications must be submitted to COFIDES.
